About The Black Prospectus

The Black Prospectus is an independent editorial platform that puts Black insight at the center of the conversation — from business and markets to policy, culture, and power.

We started this with one goal in mind: to make complex systems make sense, and to show how those systems touch Black lives every day. Whether it’s Wall Street, Washington, Silicon Valley, or Main Street — we believe that access to quality information can help move our community forward.

We're not in the business of chasing trends or clickbait. We're in the business of telling the truth — plainly, powerfully, and through a Black lens.

Our Mission

To tell the real stories behind the numbers, policies, and headlines — and to bridge the gap between data, power, and the people.

Our Values

Substance Over Hype
We’re not here to chase clout. Every story we publish is built on insight, not outrage. We prioritize clarity, history, and meaningful impact over what’s trending today and forgotten tomorrow.

Context is King
Nothing exists in a vacuum — especially not the issues that shape our lives. Whether we’re covering a corporate merger, policy shift, or cultural debate, we put it in historical, social, and economic context so the full picture is clear.

Financial Clarity
We believe financial information should be accessible, not intimidating. We break down the language of money — markets, investments, policy, data — in ways that resonate with the community, not just insiders.

Creative Discipline
We take pride in the craft. That means sharp editing, intentional storytelling, and honoring our readers’ time. No fluff. No filler. Just focused, high-quality reporting and commentary with a voice you can trust.

Community Accountability
We answer to the people, not the algorithm. Our work reflects a commitment to empowering the culture, not extracting from it. We stay rooted in integrity, transparency, and service.

About the Founder

The Black Prospectus was founded by William T. Jordan II, a data-driven strategist and financial services analyst with over a decade of experience translating numbers into narratives that matter.

A proud graduate of Clark Atlanta University (‘13, B.A. in Finance) and Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business (Master’s in Accountancy), William’s professional background spans capital markets, investment banking, and advisory analytics.

He has worked at major financial institutions, where he built business intelligence tools that helped senior leaders make better decisions around portfolio performance, market exposure, and regulatory compliance. At a highly-reputable and publicly-traded broker-dealer, he transformed the firm’s investment advisory AUM reporting framework into a modern Tableau Cloud environment, enhancing revenue insight, advisor oversight, and compliance tracking. Before that, he supported investment banking group heads by refining pipeline metrics and co-creating systems for matching client opportunities to regional bankers in real time.

But The Black Prospectus wasn’t born in a boardroom — it was born from a quiet but unshakable conviction: that the Black perspective deserves a seat at the editorial table in business, markets, and institutional analysis. Not just in commentary, but in leadership.

This platform is the convergence of that corporate discipline, creative energy, and cultural accountability — a project born not from ego, but from purpose.
